Gather the Ingredients and Tools

Before you start, gather all the necessary ingredients and tools to make your sweet and savory fish cake hot dogs. To cook the hot dogs you’ll also need a skillet or pan with oil or butter. Lastly, you will of course need hot dogs or sausages!

Prepare the Mixture for Shaping

After you’ve gathered your ingredients, it’s time to mix everything together. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the breadcrumbs, parsley, eggs, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce until thoroughly mixed. Allow this mixture to cool for several minutes before scooping it out into hamburger-shaped patties. Place these on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or foil and then slide them into the refrigerator for about 30 minutes. This will help solidify the patties shape and make them easier to fry.

Shape and Roll the Dogs.

Now it’s time to shape and roll your fish cake patties into hotdogs. Take one patty in the palm of your hand and begin to shape it into a hotdog-like shape. Once shaped, wrap the patty in a piece of one of the pieces of pre-made nori seaweed used sliced up temaki sushi. With every pass, make sure that the nori is pressed softly against the patty. Secure this with a few toothpicks if needed and repeat until all patties are wrapped in their own nori blankets

Fry in Hot Oil.

Once all your hotdogs are wrapped and secure, it’s time to fry! Preheat a pot of oil at high heat and then bring the heat down to medium-high. It’s important not to overfill the pot with just a few fish cake hotdogs. Carefully place your patties into the heated oil and let them fry for 1-2 minutes until they have reached a golden-brown color. Flip them over halfway during this process to ensure an even fry on both sides. Once finished, use tongs to move your hot dogs from the hot oil onto a plate lined with paper towels so that any excess oil is absorbed from them.
